Joseph Edwin Boyd passed peacefully at Maplewood Retirement Community on July 23rd 2021 in his 98th year of love and service.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret Boyd and loving dad to Bonnie (John Benesh) and Bourk (Grete). Proud Papa of Jennifer McLean (Kevin), Kathryn Tyler (Jose Barahona), Alanna, Cara, Nicole, and Kerstin Boyd and great-grandsons, Joshua and Kaden McLean, and Nixon Barahona. Devoted brother of Edrie Joule (late Harry) and late Max (late Sunny). Adored uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Ed was appreciated for his service to the Winchester United Church, and the broader Winchester community. He cherished his family, friends, honesty, hard work and all good things life, and God offered him – notably, boating, sunshine, milk shakes, and butter tarts. The love and laughter he inspired will live with all who came across his welcoming spirit, listening ear, gentle understanding, and imparted wisdom. Until the end, Ed’s kindness and generosity graced all those who crossed his path.
By Ed’s request, an intimate family service will be held in celebration of his life at a later date. Donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Winchester United Church or Winchester District Memorial Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain, (613-989-3836). Thank you all for sharing Ed with me at Orchard View and again most recently at Maplewood. He was so kind, and had that mischievous twinkle in his eye. He really had a life well loved, and that was so evident in the care and love you all showered on him. He did get what he gave…Love.
We will miss him so much.
Thinking of you

July 28, 2021 at 4:13 pmYolanda and Bernice Oliver, as Essential Care supports for Ed are sending loving thoughts with regards to passing.
We had share, individually, personal moments with Ed and enjoyed his smiles and some personal stories as well. We were there day to day for the past year, watching him disconnect with Life and it was sad to see; yet, as he did and ourselves as well, did get through it all with him.
Loving energy to you all and hope you can share and embrace the good times you had with Ed and/or with the family.
