Walter Joseph Billings November 7, 1928 - June 9, 2016

A resident of Mountain for the past 42 years Walter J. Billings passed away peacefully at the Dundas Manor at the age of 87 years. Walter joined the Canadian Military in the early 50’s, and completed 25 years of service before returning to the local area. On October 3, 1952 he married his sweetheart Shirley Craig of Williamsburg and started their beautiful journey together. Walter loved the simple things in life such as, fishing and outdoor adventures. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and neighbours. He will be truly missed by many. Walter is survived by his devoted wife Shirley and his sons Tim (Carol), Jamie (Cindy), Doug (Janet). Walter was predeceased by his son Ron. He was a fortunate man to have many grandchildren, Amanda, Alex, Allan, Christopher,Jonathan, Kyle, Kalina, Natalie, Ryan, and Sarah, and 10 great-grandchildren. Walter is survived by a sister Pat and brother Dick, with numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a public visitation which will be held on Friday June 17th between 11-1 p.m. at the Byers Funeral Home 2990 Church Street, South Mountain with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Knights Cemetery on Van Camp Road. Luncheon to follow approximately at 2:30 in the library in South Mountain where everyone is invited to share fond memories and great stories of Walter.
