Sharon Mabel Gilmer (Nee Kennedy) June 29, 1945 - June 21, 2021

In Heckston at Stonepile Farms on Monday, June 21, 2021.  Loving wife of 55 years to Dalton Gilmer.  Devoted mother to Sherri (Dennis Donovan & family) and Darlene (Randy Severson).  Doting Grandmother to her pride and joy Chloe Severson (Jared Fenlong).

Survived by sisters Sheila Elliott, Marie Porteous, Beverly Richardson, Debra (Paul) Gaw and by brothers Lyle Kennedy (Yves) and Donald Kennedy.  Also, by in-laws Douglas (Eleanor) Gilmer and Anne Buker, many nieces and nephews as well as numerous treasured lifelong friends.

Predeceased by her parents Morris and Bertha Kennedy (n. Francis), brother Carl Kennedy and brother-in-laws Donald Elliott and Claire Porteous.

Sharon led a full life filled with love, laughter and always surrounded by family and friends.  Her greatest joys came from helping on the family farms, raising her daughters and granddaughter, Groveton hall dances, bowling, snowmobiling, watching any soccer, baseball, hockey game or dance recital, and of course playing euchre.  Her “cackle” could be heard in any room and would always turn anyone’s frown upside down.

Sharon’s love for children was strong and she nurtured many over the years always providing time and care when needed.  Including to 4 very treasured Gaw kids Krista, Eric, Sharon Nicole (her namesake) and Victoria.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the support given to them by Dr. Legault, Champlain LHIN and our very own personal RN Victoria Shaw.  We will always be truly grateful to Paul and Deb Gaw and family for opening up their home and turning one of the most difficult experiences a family can go through into one filled with such special memories.

A memorial and burial will be scheduled at a later date when larger gathering numbers are allowed.

Memorial donations to the Heckston United Church or the L.O.L 143 Edwardsburg would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home South Mountain (613-989-3836)
