Robert “Bob” Lawrence Hogg, Ph.D.

Surrounded by family at the Ottawa General Hospital on Sunday November 13, 2022. Bob Hogg from Mountain, ON, aged 80. Beloved husband of Leslie. Loving Father of Ethan (Lorraine), Cyrus (Xi) and Sarada (Jason). Cherished Grandfather of Nathaniel, Gabriel, Feather, Jacob, Rebekah and Aero. Dear brother of George Jr. Predeceased by his parents George Sr. and Florence (nee Drebert).Born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 26, 1942, Robert was raised on the VT Ranch on Green Lake in the Cariboo of BC, and in the lower Fraser Valley.

Professor Hogg studied English and Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia where he co-edited the Canadian literary magazine TISH. He completed his graduate studies at SUNY Buffalo under Charles Olson, whose work was the subject of his Ph.D thesis.

Robert was a professor of English Literature and Poetics at Carleton University for 38 years, where he nurtured a new generation of Canadian poets and writers. After his retirement in 2005 he devoted his attentions fully to writing and milling. He published five books of poetry and six chapbooks. He also edited a comprehensive anthology of Canadian Poetic theory. His work has appeared in over 70 publications throughout the world. He also founded and operated Mountain Path Organics, an organic farm, stone ground flour mill and natural food distribution company in Eastern Ontario. There will be no Visitation or Funeral Service with Cremation. Donations in Memory of Bob may be made to the Ottawa General Hospital Foundation.
