Patricia Warren (Nee McGuinty)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Patricia (nee McGuinty) Warren announce her peaceful passing on January 1^st, 2022 at the age of 81 years at the Kemptville District Hospital. Pat, or “Patsy” as she was known to her family in the Pembroke area, will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Doug, and her children, Paul (Laura) and Jen. She will be dearly missed by her deeply loved sisters Anna (Tommie) Egan and Margaret (the late Isidore) Radke, as well as her many nieces and nephews on both the McGuinty and Warren sides of the family and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Ruddy) and William McGuinty, as well as her siblings Theresa (the late Jack) Hunt, Clarence (Jean) McGuinty, Doreen (Art) Lund, Evelyn (the late John) Wren, and Doris (the late Barry) McGuire,

Born in the village of Osceola, Ontario on March 14, 1940, Pat moved to Pembroke with her family as a child. Named Pembroke’s Miss Chamber of Commerce in 1962 and described as a “5’5” bundle of charm”, Pat spent time at the local newspaper, The Pembroke Observer, as the social reporter where her lifelong curiosity about people and their stories began.

Pat met her husband, Doug, while living in Pembroke, and the two relocated to Winchester, Ontario after marrying in 1965 and would make it their home for the next 50 years where they raised their son, Paul, and daughter, Jennifer. Pat worked for the Village of Winchester, and after retiring, proudly served as one of the area’s Welcome Wagon representatives, earning “Representative of the Year” for Ontario in 2007. In 2015, Pat and Doug relocated to Kemptville.

Pat will be forever remembered for her trademark infectious laugh, her sharp wit, her kind ways, as well as her genuine interest in learning about the lives of others through engaging conversation. She was a best friend to her husband. She was unendingly supportive and proud of her children. She loved flowers and feathered friends. She took her euchre very seriously but would have everyone collapsing in laughter at her Pictionary skills. Pat was a fan of travel and animal documentaries, never missed an episode of the “Big Bang Theory”, and enjoyed cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. She loved country music and dancing. She read the Ottawa Citizen every morning with her coffee and would pore over the obituaries, absorbing the life stories contained in each. We wanted to write an obituary for her that would have made her smile had she come across it during her daily ritual.

Our deepest thanks for the incredible care and compassion demonstrated by her family physician, Dr. Rattan, and his medical assistant, Tracey, at Rideau Crossing Family Health Centre, as well as by Trish, her in-home nurse for many years. Care provided by paramedics and medical teams at both Kemptville District Hospital and Winchester District Memorial Hospital were instrumental in Pat’s many recoveries from health challenges over the years, as was the support provided by pharmacies both in Winchester (Seaway Valley Pharmacy) and Kemptville (Shoppers Drug Mart). With great strength and determination, Pat was able to remain at home until January 1^st, and we are thankful beyond words to Kemptville District Hospital for making her final day with us one of peace and comfort.

These local services both provided invaluable support over the years to our family, and we are deeply grateful.
