Peacefully at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, with her children by her side on Saturday, November 28, 2020. Denyse Rochette of Winchester, born 88 years ago in Quebec City, to Donat and Marie Jeanne, and dear sister of Andrée. Beloved Mom of Michael, Peter and Ann, and cat-mom of little Jettany. Cherished ‘Nana D’ of Amanda, Amy, Candace, Evelyn, Laura and Summer; proud Great-Grandma of Amelia, Brady, Ella, Elliot, Eva, Faith, Isabella, Isaiah, Jacob, Jaden, Leila, Olive and Rolan; and dear Matante-Aunt Denyse to her nieces and nephews.
Nana D left in each of us a precious legacy of the love of music, books and nature; a crazy sense of humour, storytelling and drawing skills – gifts we will pass on through our generations to come. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses, staff and Dr. Alexander Kelly at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, and Vicky Byers, for their kind and compassionate care. And her dear friends Margaret, Huguette and Paulette who made her days so much brighter.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery. For those wishing, please consider making a donation in Memory of Denyse Rochette, to the Wild Bird Care Centre of Ottawa. We love you Mommy-Nana D, you are in Heaven and out of pain at last. May your memory be for a blessing, we will never forget you. Online condolences may be made to www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca

December 1, 2020 at 4:50 pmI have grown fond of your mom even though I have only been at Beachcroft for 8 months. I loved her story telling and her unique sense of humour. I’m sorry for your loss and I will truly miss her and her hugs.

December 6, 2020 at 11:37 pmWhen I was an infant, I was fortunate to have Mme. Denyse Rochette as my wonderful nanny in Ottawa and Toronto. For the next 35+ years, Nanny Denyse unfailingly sent birthday and Christmas cards filled with great memories and her lovely, playful drawings. Although it has been many years since I last saw her in person, we were able to stay connected from afar. My deepest condolences to her family. I will miss her forever.

December 7, 2020 at 1:38 pmAs Mark Laurie has noted, Denyse was nanny to our sons Mark and Avrum in their critical early years. She cherished them as if they were her own, and they are better and gentler men today for the love she bestowed upon them. We will all miss Nanny Denyse.

December 24, 2020 at 12:53 amDenyse was my daughter’s babysitter when we lived in Ottawa and she often played with Lisa, helping her to wash the dolls clothes, play games with her and kept her entertained. Lisa loved having Denyse come to babysit as she was her favourite. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing and send my condolences to her family and loved ones.
