Rhonda, May the peace that comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead.

We are grateful for being able to know Joel and how much he loved Hockey and always worked hard for the Hawks.

Thanks to you and Joel the team and all its members wouldn’t have been able to do the things they did, in the last few years we were apart of the organization.

Try and have peace within knowing that Joel is no longer suffering.

    Take care of yourself.

Warmly, Jackie, Darrell and Myranda Symonds

How much time has passed since you took me in as a very young man from Halliburton. I think I had just turned 16, so it would be 30 years ago.

You made me feel like I had a second family. Joel was the ‘coolest’ person I had met. Fashion focused, fun, loved to laugh, honest and had a great heart.

I loved my time with all of you and I am saddened that I lost contact.

Joel and the Steele family impacted my immensely.

    He will certainly be missed.

    Sincerely,

    Kelly Mitchell

    Dear Rhonda & family

My thoughts have been with you, many times over the past years, since Joel first had his medical problems. I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for Rhonda and family, but their great support has kept Joel going through those hard times, so that he could enjoy golf his family & friends and contribute to the community, as he loved to do.

I first met Joel in the halls of North Dundas District High School. I was the new Public Nurse and spent 3 mornings a week in the school as their health nurse. He made a point of introducing himself right away and often dropped in to say good morning, as he was on Hall Duty. During that year, he mentioned his plans to open his Mens clothing store, The Country Boy and we all know what that went on to be. I only had 1 year as a neighbour merchant, before he sold his business, while concentrating on his health.

Today, we still celebrate the many events he spearheaded or was a big part of, in our Village.
