Peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday May 29, 2018.

Gerry Helmer age 68 of Winchester. Beloved Dad of Ashley Helmer (Mark Dunlop). Predeceased by his parents Stanton and Margaret (Crump) Helmer.

Loving Brother of Jim (Francine), Rita Fowler (late Mel), Marlene Gaves (Rick) and the late Junior, Roger, Carolyn Russell and Elizabeth Helmer. Dear Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

By Gerald`s request there will be no Visitation or Funeral Service.

A Private family gathering will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain, (613-989-3836). Online Condolences may be made at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca

    My deepest condolences Ashley, to you and to your family. I enjoyed working and serving Gerry at the restaurant over many years. He would always have a witty response to what ever you asked him.. I will miss his sense of humor.

    My sympathies to the Helmer family. I crossed paths with Gerry several times over the past 6 or 7 years at the laundromat in Winchester. Ashley, I wanted you to know how very proud your dad was of you. He spoke of you (at length sometimes) and of your accomplishments. Find peace in your heart and calm in your soul.
