Deeply saddened by the news that Gerry passed. I remember one of the first times I met Gerry, when he came down to visit Paul. It was close to Christmas and we were going to the St Jacobs Market. He said he had $220.00 and 11 gifts to buy. I watched over the next 2 hours as he bought gifts for his mom and dad, his siblings, nieces ( maybe nephews too) and of course for Al. He purchased a ring with a red gem for his mom, a soccer ball and a large golf driver. We carted out all 11 gifts to the car. I was in awe of someone that could pick out things for so many people, so quickly, and I could tell each one was something they would love by his descriptions. Family and friends were important to Gerry and you can tell when he talked about them. Lorna you and your family weren’t around yet but you quickly took over as the centre of his universe. We will all greatly miss him, and our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Lorna I wanted to express my sadness when I learned of this. Gerry had been one of the best people to have worked alongside with , over my decades . He was my daily partner on tasks when he worked for our family and I always smiled at 6am when he arrived for work because I knew that day would go smoother, and with more laughter with him around. Truly. It bothers me we have lost him. He always acted and conducted himself with a sense of respect to others , and I think that is why I held him in such high regard. I remember him offering other guys rides home or parts of his lunch if they were hungry. It came natural to him to be a giver around our working environment which in and of itself wasn’t something we saw ‘naturally’ from others there. He was a great guy to chat with- work alongside and most of all – depend on. I can only imagine that he took all of those great qualities I witnessed and benefited from , and wrapped them up into a wonderful life partner for you – loving father and trusted and dear family member to others.
Im thankful to have met him and spent time with him.
I was better off , to have worked with him and known him. Im sorry for his undeserved struggle and
now ,your personal loss and his kid’s loss. Gerry will be missed
