Enid Holmes August 21, 1929 - March 8, 2018

 

Vivian Holmes passed away after a brief illness at Medex Residence, Ottawa on Thursday March 8. Vivian was born in Riceville, Ont to James and Elizabeth (nee Gates) Scott. She was predeceased by siblings Thelma, Clarence, Ruben, Ernie, George, Ileen, Grace Erratt, Carl and is survived by Keith. Vivian married Arnold Holmes of Winchester March 5, 1947 and raised 3 children Phyllis, Leeann, and Wray on their farm on Vinegar Hill. Viv, as she was best known, volunteered in the community and worked the family farm for many years. Arn and Viv loved square dancing, camping by the St. Lawrence, and playing euchre with family and friends on Saturday nights. Vivian was predeceased by Arnold, and daughter Phyllis (Larry) Saganski. She is survived by Leeann (Greg Chamberlain) and Wray (Nancy Farley). She was the loving Grandma of Melanie and Michael Fisher, Jessica (Paul Roberts) and Sarah (Mark Daley) Chamberlain, and Great-Grandma to Rowan and Gregory Daley. She also leaves behind a special friend Bill Horner, as well as many friends from her years in Morrisburg at the Hartford Senior’s Residence.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday April 1st from 1 to 4 p.m. at the South Mountain Agricultural Hall, 2967 Lough Road. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted for the WDMH Foundation or Dundas County Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836).
