Emmy sat behind us in church and always said hello and gave us a big smile. We will miss her so much. Talking about her knitting projects, this lovely lady knitted 45 prayer shawls which she gave to people and I’m certain gave them great comfort. Rest in peace Emmy. Joey & Marlyn O’Connor

We were shocked to hear the news of the sudden passing of Emmy. We often saw her during our visits to Oma and Opas in Winchester and she was always friendly to ask us how our family was doing. Her name was always brought up in conversation during our Winchester visits as she was such a good friend to the family and a weekly card player with Oma and Opa. This past Christmas during our visit, there was evidence that Emmy was by with a freshly baked and wrapped up raisin bread as a Christmas present. We wish the family strength during this tough time. She will be greatly missed. Our deepest condolences, Kim, Chuck, Griffin & Brandon Van Winden

Thank you so much for your note. Yesterday, I was looking at an old photo and the notation at the bottom was old Mr Hall (James) in the background and young Mr Hall(Martin) nearby. Where have the years gone.

A 9yr old Dutch kid arrives in Canada, makes a new friend and Mom Emmy welcomes me into their household like I was one of her own. Sleepovers meant Chef Emmy would have, without fail, fresh “pap” (porridge) on the stove in the mornings. High intensity Mini Stick games in the kitchen had Ref Emmy keep things somewhat under control. A riverbank wipeout (where forehead met rock) had Nurse Emmy calmly perk me up with a sniff of perfume before sending me off for a stitch or two. So many fond memories. It was 90MPH Rodge who said “Charl, I’m gonna call you Chuck”, a name everyone now calls me, and for forty-three years it was Emmy who would always greet me with “Hi Sjaak”……made me smile everytime! My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Emmy. Chuck Van Winden
