Peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Thursday March 2, 2023. Diane Fox age 90 of Mountain. Beloved wife of the late John Fox. Loving Mum of Stephen (Dora), Andrew (Stephanie) and Richard (Roxanne). Cherished Grandma of Amelia and Ethan; Everett and Simon; Jennifer, Rebecca and Cameron Fox.
Born February 17, 1933, in Plymouth England, Diane Butland came to Canada in 1954, living in Halifax Nova Scotia, then later Montreal, Quebec, where she met the love of her life, John Fox, marrying in 1961. Diane and John moved to a farm in the Ottawa Valley in 1969 where they raised three sons Stephen, Andrew, and Richard, and where Diane continued to live for the rest of her life. During a long and full retirement from working in education, Diane enjoyed spending time with her many friends, volunteering at the South Mountain Library and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital and pursuing her passions: knitting, sewing, making jellies and jams, and especially, good conversation.
Diane passed away after a struggle with cancer. She was able to enjoy the company of family and friends until the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the South Mountain Agricultural Hall, 2967 Lough Road on Friday May 19, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 pm.
By family request, donations in Memory of Diane may be made to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836). Online condolences may be made at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca

March 15, 2023 at 6:18 pmMy deepest condolences to the Fox family on your loss. I have many wonderful memories of Diane – her laugh, her smile, and her sense of humour will never be matched! From working with her at Nationview to reconnecting with her at WDMH, I have enjoyed more than a few jars of jam from her kitchen, and still have a tote bag she made me back in Nationview! She lived her life to the fullest, to the great benefit of her community! Rest easy my friend.

March 15, 2023 at 8:37 pmDiane was always on the road passing by and waved or honked at us at our Hallville home, she even asked for me to drive with her as she turn 80yrs to ensure she passed her driving test, she did it! Condolences to all the family. Colleen Weedmark and family.

March 15, 2023 at 8:48 pmFor many years (since I was 12) I worked with many elderly people in helping them with their gardens, house chores and various other tasks. I was recommended by a family friend to go to Mrs. Fox’s house.
When I showed up, she invited my mom and I in and explained what she needed done. I think she read my face because she leaned over and told me that “the bad ones (referring to herself) live the longest.” Meaning, get used to her, that’s how she is; blunt.
From that day on, we just understood each other and became friends. She had her own weird ways of doing things, but they worked. Every time I did it my way, she’d explain why her way worked best.
She told me many stories from her earlier life and when she invited me in for tea, she’d tell me all of the neighbourhood gossip she heard and then I’d tell mine.
When my grandmother passed away, she helped fill the void with sharing all of her comfort and wisdom that a grandma would.
We worked together, we tinkered together, we learned together, we baked together, we sewed together, and we laughed together.
We were really good for each other. I’m sad to see her go, but I know she lived a very fulfilling life, surrounded by great people. Until we meet again❤️ Rest In Peace Mrs. Fox

March 16, 2023 at 2:52 pmSorry to hear of Diane’s passing.
We lost touch once we left the Mountain area, but remember fondly our several visits to the farm, when we were in the area.
Condolences to her sons’ and their family.
I recall staying with the boys while Diane was out for awhile many, many years’ ago. Diane was so impressed to see when she got home that I had washed the dishes and tidied up some. Fond memories come back to us of those earlier times. Our Sympathies to all!

March 18, 2023 at 11:22 amDiane was my Queen Bee to her Sweetie Pie, and she never failed to impress me with her razor sharp intellect, wit and keen observations of life. I enjoyed meals at her table, tea on her front porch, and the best, much needed companionship during my trials and triumphs living in South Mountain. Rest in Peace dear QB. My sincere condolences to her family.
