Suddenly at home on Wednesday March 8, 2023. Hank Molenaar age 81 of Winchester. Loyal best friend forever & common-law spouse of Bev Baker. Loving Dad of Trish (Donny) Sauve and the late Cheryl Molenaar. Cherished Grandpa of Aaron, Kylynn, Haydon; Natasha, Tyler, Regan, Olivia & Colby and great-grandchildren Dustin, Ella & Hudson. Dear brother of Ted (Betty), Ron (Cindy), & Nick (late Nellie) Molenaar. Predeceased by his parents Hendrika & Nicholas Molenaar and his brother Gerry Molenaar. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and his ‘old’ STATS friends. Henk served in the Canadian Army/2nd Canadian Guards from 1960-1964. After the Army he built Westboro & Dover Court Co-Operative Housing in Ottawa & hence the City named 2 Streets in his name Hendricus Private & Molenaar Private. In the day he was into wood crafting, an avid bird lover, auction goer & mega antique collector & collectable fiend; and animal lover-predeceased by his beloved sheltie- Misty & cat Maggie Muggins # 1 and survived by Maggie Muggins #2. A man of many dimensions. He will be missed & may he R.I.P. till we “meet again.”
By Hank’s request Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836). Online condolences may be made at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca

March 11, 2023 at 10:47 amI’m so sorry to hear of Hank’s death and my sympathies are extended to his family.
I worked with Hank at StatsCan for many years and was also on the O&ID social committee with him. He was a fun person to be around and knew how to get around management so that staff could enjoy themselves. Rest in Peace Hank – and thanks for sharing your beer!

March 12, 2023 at 7:07 pmWorked with Hank when he started at Statistics Canada and we had some interesting times working on the farm income tax projects in the Number 5 and Main Bldg. He was our go to guy who could solve almost any problems. RIP. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I have been fortunate enough of occupying one of the accessible wheelchair units in Dovercourt housing co-0p for the last 35 years and my wife Sherry also lives with a disability that moved in 18 years ago. We are grateful for M. Molenaar excellent work in social housing.

March 30, 2023 at 2:50 pmI met Hank through work, but I remember most that early in my career we chatted about the Cdn Guards Regiment, as my father served the tail end of his career in 1 and 2 Battalion during Hank’s years with them. I don’t remember how we connected as we did not work in the same division at STC. He was generous in talking about it with me, someone he didn’t know. Condolences from me and my family and father to the Molenaar’s.
