(Marielle) Denyse MacLeod nee Rattey August 11, 1933 - January 10, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denyse Macleod on Monday January 10, 2022.

Born on August 11, 1933 to the late Maximilien Rattey and Juliette (nee Alain), Denyse was married to the late John Campbell MacLeod. She was devoted mother of Dan (late Cathy Shroeder), Bill (Marie-Claude Thibault), Susan (Terry Parrish) and Carol MacLeod, loving grandmother to Kyle and Christopher Parrish (Tori Walker), Nicolas (Sara Lynn Cormack) and Stephanie MacLeod (Simon Pelletier) and her great grandchildren Anaëlle and Logan.

Remembered by her sisters Claire (late Lucien Dagenais), Marie-Paule (late Marcel Lacelle), Aline (André Brouillette) and many nieces and nephews. Denyse was predeceased by her sisters Julie Meloche, Renée (late Maurice DeErnsted), Andrée-Micheline (Conrad Hotte), and brother Roger Rattey.

A native of Ottawa, Denyse worked for many years for the Government of Canada, followed by 20 years with Sears. She touched many lives with her beautiful personality, her zest for life, love of family, gardening and let’s not forget antiquing. She was a “mother to all” in both heart and deed, always putting others before herself. The family is truly grateful to her friend François Mongeon, Dr. Duchesne, nurses and staff of the Centre d’Accueil Champlain for their extraordinary dedication, warmth and support.

In our hearts you will always stay loved and remembered, every day.

Please consider a donation to Ottawa Alzheimer’s Society in her memory or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836), online condolences may be made at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca and a celebration of life for Denyse will take place at a future date.

Carol, Sue, Bill and Dan (and families) – I want to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your Mum. She was a lovely lady and I have fond memories of her and remember my Mum’s stories about their belly dancing lessons!

    My sincere condolences, Wendy Hillier
