It is with heavy hearts that the family announces Jack’s passing on Friday May 16, 2025 with Mary, his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, by his side. Jack also leaves behind his 2 daughters Leslie (Jevon) Groves and Lori (Stuart) Smith as well as his 2 grandchildren Logan Groves (Hayley Klassen) and Sarah Groves (Jordan Poulin) – all whom he was so proud of. He is also survived by step-sister Jane Dale, sisters-in-law Judy (John) Churcher and Barbara Barkley. Jack was predeceased by his father Graham, his step-father Merwood Dale and his mother Grace as well as his sister Lois and his brother Donald. He was also predeceased by his step-brother Paul Dale and his brother-in-law Earl Barkley.
Jack took pride in his many community engagements notably serving as a municipal councillor for Winchester Township and a fair board member for the village of Chesterville. Throughout all of his years, Jack was there for neighbours, friends and family to lend a hand or to do a favour. Always self-employed, Jack evolved multiple successful businesses with his partner Mary over the years from farm services to trucking to warehousing. Jack was his own boss until the very end.
Funeral services are entrusted to Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836). As per Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dundas Manor would be graciously accepted. Online condolences may be shared at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca
