Stephen O’Brien passed away peacefully in his home in Mountain on Saturday, April 28, 2018, surrounded by his circle of love.  He was 76.

Steve lived his life with a deep appreciation of the land, the sun, the elements, and his family.  He loved to photograph nature’s perfection and moments of beauty in his family.  Steve never failed to show his gratitude and devotion to the love of his life and wife, Monique, to his daughters Linda (Arturo) De la Torre and Marie-Anne (Richard) Dennis, and to his grandchildren Adrián, Isaac, Gabriel, Ian, and Alexander.

Family, friends, and neighbours are invited to join in a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Byers Funeral Home 2990 Church Street ,South Mountain (613-989-3836).  Following the tribute to Steve, guests are invited to stay for refreshments, story sharing, and visitation with his family until 4 p.m.

By family’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation in memory of Steve (

    we are so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing he was a wonderful father and grandfather, a true friend with a big heart he was a very kind and considerate gentleman.We are glad to have known Steve even though it was only for eight years.
