Renko Hinrikus Constapel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of

Renko Hinrikus Constapel, 56, on July 14th, 2026, in Winchester, Ontario. After a courageous fight with cancer, Renko left this world surrounded by love, his spirit now at peace in heaven.

Born on May 3, 1970 in Leer, Germany, Renko was the beloved son of Wilhelm and Meintine (Rubien). At age 13, he immigrated to Canada with his family.  Growing up on the family farm, Renko was always tinkering. Taking his mechanical skills to the next level, Renko obtained his certification as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Renko dedicated his entire career to the geophysical aviation field and had the privilege of travelling all over the world.

But his favourite place was always home. Renko loved the country and outdoor life. Hardworking and productive, he spent his weekends mowing, chain-sawing, and happily breaking and fixing things.  Evenings were best spent relaxing with the family and friends in the cozy gazebo that he built for Mary.

Renko is forever loved and will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years, Mary (McKendrick); his son, Jadon (Jenna); his daughters, April and Lillian (Lily); and his three grandchildren, Kinsley, Coby and Maisie. He also leaves behind his parents, Wilhelm and Tina; siblings, Ellen (Paul) and Martin (Emily); his nieces, nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Germany.

Please join us on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 a.m. for visitation, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and a reception with light refreshments, as we honour Renko’s life. All events will be held at the Mountain Township Agricultural Hall at 2967 Lough Road, South Mountain.

For those wishing to donate in memory of Renko, please consider the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836). Online condolences may be made at www.byersfuneralhomeinc.ca
