Died July 25, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta. Mary Lou died of presumed COVID pneumonia after a long battle with dementia. Mary Lou was born August 3, 1941 in Winchester Springs, Ontario – the first child of Irwin and Amy Holmes. She was older sister to Clara, Brenda and Kenton. Mary Lou moved to Kingston to train at Kingston General Hospital as a nurse and went on to work in pediatrics at Montreal Children’s Hospital. Mary Lou raised her children Elizabeth Louise, Robert Mason and Mary Kathleen Greenaway in Amherstburg and Kingston, Ontario. She moved to Edmonton to be close to many of her grandchildren; she was “Gramma Lou” to Annie, Emily, Quin, Joshua, Theo, Zev and Lowell. Mary Lou was a loving and spirited friend, parent and grandparent. She will be dearly missed. A memorial will be planned in the future when travel and gathering are safer and more possible.
