Peacefully at Winchester Hospital on June 11, 2026, at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Muncaster). He is survived by his daughters, Christine Moloughney (Wayne) and Mary Ellen Drumm.
Proud Grandfather to Megan, Ben (Lindsay), Shannon (Josh), Rachel and Lauren; & Great Grandpa to Ethan, Charlotte, Evelyn and Wyatt.
Lovingly remembered by his sisters Winnifred Patterson (late Frank) and Betty Faith (late Bill) and his brother Richard Holmes (Ellie).
Predeceased by his sisters Thelma Williams, Mabel Summers (late Laurie) and his brothers Stuart Holmes (Joyce), Fred Holmes (Barbara) and Larrie Holmes (Orleen).
He will be dearly missed by his loving friend Eva Hilts.
A Visitation will be held at Byers Funeral Home, 2990 Church Street, South Mountain, (613-989-3836) on Friday June 26, 2026, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9pm.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Mountain Township Agricultural Hall, 2967 Lough Road, South Mountain, on Saturday June 27, 2026, from 11am to 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WDMH Foundation or the Dundas County Hospice.

Hearing about his past, hearing about his teaching experiences. Stories of meeting previous students later in life, and them acknowledging that Dwayne was one of the prominent figures that changed their lives. Dwayne was an amazing person and we will miss his presence here terribly.

Dwayne’s integrity, kindness, and quiet strength will forever leave an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He carried himself with dignity, treated others with genuine respect, and lived a life grounded in deep values and unwavering character.

I first met Dwayne through the WDMH Foundation 28 years ago, and from that very first day, he made a point of stopping by my office—whether to talk about fundraisers for the hospital or to sell me chocolate bars for the Lions Club. Those small moments reflected who he truly was: a thoughtful, generous, and genuinely kind gentleman.
His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

June 23, 2026 at 6:23 pmDwayne was one of my favourite teachers in grades seven and eight at Queen Elizabeth school in the late 1970’s. I will most remember his sense of humour. I took a lot of gentle “abuse” from him because he was a colleague of my father, who also taught in the intermediate panel. I last saw him when he attended my father’s funeral last November. Same sense of humour, same booming voice, same generosity. He had a larger than life affect on all of his students.
