Doug Vasey July 25, 1953 - September 6, 2026

Doug Vasey, 73, of Crysler, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on the “farm” on September 6, 2026 surrounded by the love of family and friends. He died on his terms, in the home he shared with his late partner, Dianne Workman.

Born in Haliburton, Ontario, Doug lived in and around Winchester for most of his life. After the passing of their parents, Judy and Glen, Doug took his role of big brother seriously and became a steady presence for his siblings: Greg (Kris), Cindy (Dan), and Jill (Marc). His daughters, Tanya (Rob) of Dublin and Kelly of Victoria, were always close to his heart, despite the distance. To his grandchildren, Ben and Harper, he was lovingly known as Grandpa Canada. Doug was honoured to be stepdad to Laura (Marc) and Sean (Kim), and step-grandpa to Dryden and Noah. He was a beloved uncle to Angie, Heather, Joshua, Noelle, Evan, and Chloe. Doug’s special friend Laurie, along with his “girls,” Tanya and Julie, made his heart full.

Doug had a passion for gardening and baking pies, and many were fortunate enough to enjoy the fruits—and pies—of his labour. He was also the keeper of family stories. We will be lost without him.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, there will be no funeral. His family and friends will remember him in their own way, with gratitude for the life he lived and the love he gave.

Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836).

My thoughts are with the Vasey family. My daughter Megan and Tanya were the same age and my daughter did visit Tanya in Dublin.
