Alastair Black October 27, 1940 - December 18, 2025

Surrounded by family at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Thursday December 18, 2025. Alastair Black, age 85, of Winchester formerly of Ile Bizard, Quebec.  Beloved husband of Ingrid (Reinkober). Loving father of Jamie Black (Catherine Prud’homme). Cherished brother of Margaret Fullerton (the late Ian) of Scotland. Dear brother-in-law of Gabrielle Rothe (Larry) and Tasso Hackel (Anne Marie) and cousin of Maria (Dan) and Andrew. Uncle of Genevieve (Brian), Oliver (Alicia), John (Yvonne) and Debbie (David).  He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.

Cremation has taken place. By family request in lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Alastair may be made to the Complex Care unit of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital

Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836).

    Ingrid, I was so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sorrow. I know these past months have been difficult ones. May you find some comfort that Al is now resting in peace. God bless.

      Thank you, Jo-Anne. I know you have been going through the same thing. I am grateful that Al did not have to be moved to a care home before he died. We were there at the end and it felt peaceful. God bless you, too.

    I had no idea, Ingrid! My sincerest condolences. It seems like yesterday you were telling me that the two of you were installing a deck on your home here before you moved. I didn’t know Al, but I was happy that he didn’t have to be moved to a care home and that the end felt peaceful. No small mercy that. I’m thinking of you in your loss and wish you strength. ❤️
